My pressure cooker started emitting steam through the safety valve while I was cooking. Do I need to remove the pressure cooker from the heat source? What should I do?

It is not necessary to remove the pressure cooker from the heat source. Simply turn the heat down slightly. The pressure cooker will adjust and the amount of steam being released will reduce, as well. This release of excess pressure (and steam) is built in as a safety precaution.
